Department of Computer Science and Engineering
School of Computer and Control is organized into two departments: Department of Automatic Control and Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
Department of Automatic Control offers 3 Bachelor’s majors: Industrial Automation, Hydraulic transmission and Control, and Automation. It also offers 6 master’s degree programs and 3 Ph. D. degree programs. There are in the department 8 teaching research groups and 11 laboratories with about 120 faculty and staff members, about 20 of whom have obtained doctoral degrees and 40 master’s degrees. Over the past five years, its average annual research funding is over 10 million yuan. It has won 2 third prizes of National Science and Technology Advance Awards, 2 first prizes of ministerial awards, 6 second prizes of ministerial awards and 15 third prizes of ministerial awards. The number of its annual published papers is 100, and 30 of these have been indexed by the three major international indexing organizations. The department has been striving to bring forth “famous brand” majors by keeping track of the newest developments in the field of automatic control, restructuring its specialties and stressing the crossing and combination of the Control Science with such subjects as Information Science, Management Science, Computer Science and Biomedical Science.
Department of Computer Science and Engineering set up in 1983 its master’s degree program of Computer and Applications, which turned into a Ph. D degree program in 1994. With 100 faculty and staff members, the department is currently organized into 8 teaching research sections or research sections like those of Computer software and Artificial Intelligence and 9 laboratories or training service centers like those of Multimedia Technology or CAI. Its research areas include Mathematical System Design Automation, System Software and Development Environment, Multimedia and MIS Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Expert System Tools, Intelligence System, Chinese Character Processing, System Structure and Net Communication, and so on. Over the past years, the department has made many significant research achievements and won 30 awards at or above the ministerial levels, among which “The Comprehensive System of the Functions of ASIC Behavior and the Logic of Artificial Intelligence” has opened new research areas for ASIC in China.
